About George & Dimboola Pottery

Dimboola Pottery is owned and opperated by artist George Khut, who moved to Dimboola in late 2024, from New South Wales.

The pottery is located on the site of the former CFA (Country Fire Authrority) fire brigade shed, at 103 Lloyd Street, next to the Dimboola Public Library. Dimboola itself is located halfway between Melbourne (in the state of Victoria) and Adelaide (in the state of South Australia), about four hours driving time between either city.

George’s vision for the pottery is to be a home for the creation and sale of his own hand-made tablewares and art objects, and as a creative, inspiring, and a supportive studio facility for people in the Wimerra-Southern Mallee region, where they can explore clay and ceramic processes, through a mix of ongoing weekly classes (7 week terms), and one-off classes for visitors and people curious to get a taste of some different methods.

George studied ceramics with Les Blakeborough and Ben Richardson during his undergraduate studies at the University of Tasmania, School of Art, in Hobart, during the early 1990’s, before pursuing a 20-year career in electronic and interactive art.

Since 2018 he has been refocussing his practice back towards working with clay, building his own workshop with Peter Dallas Phillips at Bargo Pottery (2022-2024, and working as a studio assistant with Malcolm Greenwood, (2022-2024) and Simon Reece .(2022-2024).

His pottery is currently available for purchase from the Australian Design Centre Object Shop, in Darlinghurst (until March 2026), and at the WAMA Foundation gift shop, Halls Gap, Victoria.
