Pottery Wheel 90-minute experience

Discover the joy of working with clay in this immersive 90-minute pottery wheel class. These classes are usually held on Sundays and are perfect for complete beginners. No experience needed, and all tools and materials are provided.

George will guide you through the fundamental techniques of the potter's wheel: centring the clay, opening it up, setting the floor of the pot, and drawing up the walls into vessel shapes like bowls, cylinders, and bud-vases.

This is a wonderful activity to share with friends, partners, or family — a rare chance to slow down, get your hands in the clay, and be fully present in the making.

Children aged 12–15 are welcome when accompanied by an adult carer or guardian. Please note the class is not suitable for children under 12, due to the size and height of the pottery wheels.

This class is all about the experience and the process. Throwing well on a pottery wheel is a skill that takes time to develop, so come ready to play, experiment, and enjoy the ride rather than expect a finished product.

If you realy like what you have made, you can add glazing and firing for $35 per pot, at the end of class. We'll bisque fire your work, glaze it in a colour of your choice, and have it ready for collection within 2–3 months.
